15 January 2010 Sorry for the major delay in posts, at least I’ve been keeping the photos section updated.

The City and Visual Culture [of Barcelona], the class that has been the subject of each day’s adventures, took us to a small photography exhibition hidden in the old town above the famous museum of chocolate. The exhibition focused on photography and the city, and how the city’s history was photographed. The exhibition was very cool, and could keep you busy for hours. 15jan_003

The class headed outside for what was next, feeling adventurous. The weather in Barcelona, unlike the last few weeks we have been here, is not all that cold nor rainy. While snow happens every 5-10 years, bad weather is not the norm but the occasional good day for us is a great opportunity. After the entire group eventually disintegrated, Tommy and I headed towards the subway.

We had no Idea what we wanted to do but we ended up heading up to Tibidabo, a familiar destination for myself. This time we took public transportation up, and we enjoyed every part of the journey. The FGC subway/light rail took us up to a hill side station where we transferred to a neat rail car, similar to a cog railroad without the cogs. The set up was simple, 2 rail cars were suspended from the top of the hill, and when one went down, the other went up, balancing each other. We went up and had great views of the communications tower, by Norman Foster for the 1992 olympics, and the basilica that sat amidst the tibidabo amusement park.

As the sun began to fall into the Pyrénées and France, the whole mountain lit up with evening color. We eventually ended up at the top of the basilica and then headed back to the city. The night life was the next stop on the day’s agenda, and the night’s oarty was at the Harlem Jazz Club. We met up with some of the gang and hit the club for some music and drinks until the early hours morning.
