14 January was an exciting day, after the morning’s spanish lessons and a class on visual culture, I bolted out fly my kite on the edge of the Med. This was the 2nd day the weather reports online have failed me, tomorrow will be a test of a third source. Oh well. As for wind, Windfinder works like a charm and perfectly predicted a great day to fly my kite.

My quick walk ended up being quite the tour, in the map below you will find some of the highlights of my little walk towards the coastline. I saw some very nice buildings that are included in the list of architectural pieces and works of art that have helped make Barcelona a “themepark of art and architecture.”

The port olympic area of the city is really cool, beyond the olympic housing for the athletes (turned private residences now). The 2 tall towers in the area mark the entrance to the port, or the Med’s entrance to the city. Featuring a port and a multitude of resturants, the area is a catwalk of architectural works. The Gehry fish was on of the main attractions that drew my camera’s attention along with the coastline that stretches along the Barceloneta edge towards the end of the pier and the W hotel.

The Day ended with a long walk all the way across the city, finding out that the 17 and 22 TMB bus routes could just as easily taken me home.
